I love ThredUp because they basically take care of everything for you so you can make your money without much effort at all.
It’s as easy as ordering one of their ‘clean out kits’ and filling it with your unwanted clothes, then sending it back for free!
Once your clothes are received, ThredUp sorts your clothes and accepts 40% of items in the average Clean Out Kit, based on their quality standards. Then, when you get paid you decide between cash via PayPal, donating to charity or credit when your items sell (which ThredUp professionally handles)!
ThredUp accepts clothes for women and children only, but don’t worry guys, there’s many more options below for you to make some cash too!
2. Poshmark
Poshmark is a great platform to sell clothes online quickly and easily so that you can get the money you need for the clothes you don’t, and fast.
They take 20% of the selling price, however, in return, Poshmark makes shipping easier with priority boxes from USPS and prepaid shipping labels.
If you’re social media savvy then Poshmark is a great fit for you since it’s a very social platform for selling clothes online. Building a following will allow you to sell quicker and even at a higher price which you set! More sharing = more sales = more extra money! Cha-Ching!
3. Depop
Depop is an app that is great for selling all sorts of clothes online for cash, especially vintage and unique items. The app is very similar to Instagram and is used mainly by young adults and teenagers.
To be successful on this app think of it like opening up your own clothing shop. High quality pictures and thoughtful descriptions will help your items standout so you can make more money!
Depop charges 10% on the selling price and you’ll receive payments through PayPal.
4. Facebook Marketplace
Facebook Marketplace is free, that means more profits for you! Additionally, it’s extremely easy to use. If you aren’t familiar with Facebook Marketplace, open your Facebook app, tap on the Marketplace icon and click on Sell Something to begin listing your items.
It’s a great place to sell your used clothes locally, allowing you to negotiate and connect with potential buyers directly through the app.
5. Grailed
This one is for the fellas trying to make some cash while decluttering their wardrobe too!
Grailed is an app specialized in men’s clothing and accessories, you can sell by style however, it also consists of four different marketplaces to sell to:
- Grails: high-end designer items
- Hype: highly anticipated new releases
- Sartorial: high-end classic items
- Core: mainstream brands like H&M, UrbanOutfitters, Zara, etc.
When you list an item, add multiple quality photos for increased sales. Grailed charges 10% of the sales price in total fees, allowing you to still keep a lot of the cash coming in.
Other Places to Sell Clothes Online
Here’s a few other notable platforms you could use to sell your clothes online!
1. eBay
eBay is like the Godfather of E-commerce and has been around for a while as a platform for selling all types of goods. You could sell your clothes on eBay, however, you’re responsible for everything from pictures of items, pricing, negotiating, shipping, etc.
2. Instagram
Yes, you can make money on Instagram! It may not be as specialized for selling clothes as the other sites mentioned above, however, if you are creative or business-minded you can definitely turn a good profit.
There aren’t any fees to list images of your clothes and you have full control over your marketing and price strategy!
3. Tradesy
So you want to get rid of more than just clothes for some extra cash? Tradesy accepts listing of any items such as accessories or handbags, purses, etc. as long as they’re in good condition.
It’s super convenient, since when you make a sale, Tradesy will send you a prepaid shipping package. Their commission fees are only $7.50 per piece under $50, and 20% for anything over $50.
